HOUSTON, Texas – Dick Lyon, Global Projects Director for Australian-American Energy Company (AAEC) LLC, which is developing the Many Stars Coal-to-Liquids project on the Crow Reservation in Montana, has now also been named Chief Executive Officer of the Houston-based company.
The announcement was made today by Allan Blood, Chairman of Australian Energy Company, parent company of AAEC.
“Dick has been in the energy business for more than three decades and his experience, expertise and leadership make him incredibly suited for this added role,” Blood said. “Although AAEC has many initiatives in play, our Many Stars CTL project being developed with the Crow Nation in Montana is a top priority for AAEC, and will be where Dick directs most of his time and attention.”
Prior to joining AAEC, Lyon spent more than 30 years with Chevron Corporation, serving as Chevron’s Senior Executive and Project Director on numerous projects in the United States, Canada, and West Africa. He also served as a technical advisor on additional mega-projects internationally and filled numerous senior commercial, technical and business development roles throughout his long career. His complete bio can be found at www.manystarsctl.com.
Many Stars CTL will use demonstrated technology to produce 50,000 barrels per day of clean, alternative fuels for domestic use. The fuels will be produced from tribal coal, while CO2 that is created through the process will be captured and sequestered in deep saline aquifers below the Crow Reservation or supplied by pipeline to regional oil fields for use in enhanced oil-recovery projects. The $7.5 billion Many Stars Coal-to-Liquids project is expected to create 4,000 construction jobs and 700 to 900 permanent jobs at the mine and CTL plant.
